Zensulin - worry less about insulin for your little one

An early screenshot of the "Pediatric Insulin Calculator", a PWA that became Zensulin. Visit zensulin.app to see how the app has evolved!
Zensulin is a web application that I developed over the course of 7 weeks to help my cousin manage her infant daughter's Type 1 diabetes. It's a Progressive Web Application written with VueJS 3 and hosted as a static site on Netlify.
Pediatric insulin is a difficult problem, and we weren't able to find an existing product that helped with this unique situation — so I built one.
While I originally focused on the insulin dose itself, it became clear early on that the most important part of managing pediatric diabetes is figuring out the amount of carbohydrate in her food. The patient is small, and so small differences in expected and actual carbohydrate consumption can have a big impact on blood sugar levels.
In the latest version of the application, you can enter food portions before and after a meal, and Zensulin will calculate how many grams of carbohydrates were consumed based on the difference — no math required.
For Nutrition Facts, you can enter them yourself or query the USDA's FoodData Central for most any food that's for sale in the US. Foods you add are saved locally on your device, and everything except search works completely offline.
Today, the app looks like this:
